Things you can do to help ease the pain in the arch of your foot caused by plantar fasciitis.

Soak your feet in hot water

You can use a massaging foot bath along with warn water to massage your feet and help draw blood to your feet that will help repair the damage. You should probably soak your feet for about 20-30 minutes at a time. You can use Epson salt in the water. Epson salt contains magnesium sulfate. Magnesium sulfate is believed to be absorbed into the skin of the feet, which helps to reduce inflammation.

Ice to reduce pain and swelling

Ice is good for helping reduce swelling and you can use it to help with the pain you have in the arch of your feet caused by planter fascitiis. You can use an ice pack or soak your feet in a pan of ice water. A better way to concentrate the cold on the area that hurts is by using a frozen water bottle. Take a common everyday water bottle that you would normally find at any store. You will need to empty a little of the water out because it will swell when frozen and burst if it is too full. Put the water bottle in the freezer to freeze prior to using. Simply put the frozen water bottle on the floor and put the arch of your foot on top of the water bottle. This will concentrate the cold to the arch area and help reduce the pain and swelling. The water bottle can be used over and over again and leaves no mess.

Tennis Ball To Massage

You can massage the arch of your foot to by putting a tennis ball on the floor and then putting the arch of your foot over the top of the tennis ball. Move your foot back and forth over the ball and you will be able to massage the area that is hurting and ease some of the pain.

Slippers for Plantar Fasciitis Pain

When you have pain in the arch of your foot caused by planter fasciitis, you should avoid going barefoot because there is nothing to provide support to the arch of your foot. Many people like to go barefoot when they are at home. You should not do this. You should wear a pair of house slippers that provide support and cushioning for your feet.
